His estate explained in a statement that the album had always been close to his heart. “Many of Malcolm’s fans are aware of Balloonerism, a full-length album that Malcolm created around the time of the release of Faces in 2014,” they shared. “It is a project that was of great importance to Malcolm – to the extent that he commissioned artwork for it and discussions concerning when it should be released were had regularly, though ultimately GO:OD AM and subsequent albums ended up taking precedence.”

In 2023, The Quest was released as a single, and the 10th-anniversary edition of his Watching Movies With The Sound Off album was made available. Additionally, in 2022, I Love Life, Thank You, a collection of 10 tracks featuring artists such as Bun B, Sir Michael Rocks, Talib Kweli, and The Come Up, was released. In 2021, the Faces mixtape from 2014 was also made available on streaming platforms, featuring appearances from Rick Ross, Vince Staples, Earl Sweatshirt, and Mike Jones.
Mac Miller tragically passed away in September 2018 due to an accidental drug overdose. His death, which occurred just one month after the release of his Grammy-nominated album Swimming, shook the music world. A coroner’s report revealed that the rapper had fentanyl, cocaine, and alcohol in his system at the time of his passing.
