Drake Dominates the 2024 Billboard Music Awards, Winning Top R&B/Hip-Hop Artist and Top Rap Album
Drake has once again proven his dominance in the music industry by being named Top R&B/Hip-Hop Artist at the 2024 Billboard Music Awards. This marks his eighth time winning the prestigious honor, further cementing his place as one of the most influential figures in contemporary music. With this win, Drake now holds twice as many year-end No. 1 titles as any other artist, edging out even disgraced R&B star R. Kelly for the top spot.
In addition to the top artist honor, Drake took home the award for Top Rap Album for his 2023 release, For All the Dogs. The album spent an impressive 11 weeks at No. 1 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart, marking the longest run for any of Drake’s albums since Take Care. Featuring chart-topping hits like “Slime You Out” featuring SZA, “First Person Shooter” with J. Cole, and “Rich Baby Daddy” with Sexyy Red, For All the Dogs solidified Drake’s ongoing influence in both rap and R&B.
The rapper also triumphed in the Top Rap Artist and Top Rap Male Artist categories, surpassing fellow powerhouse Kendrick Lamar for the win. With 42 career wins, Drake has firmly established himself as a dominant force in the genre. However, Lamar’s Not Like Us took home the Top Rap Song award, with the track’s record-breaking 24-week reign on the Hot Rap Songs chart and its 21-week streak atop the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart.
Other notable winners at the event included Tyla, Shaboozey, and Beyoncé, who earned her first-ever country music award for COWBOY CARTER. Beyoncé was named Top Female Country Artist, besting competitors Megan Moroney and Lainey Wilson.

Meanwhile, Taylor Swift emerged as the evening’s biggest winner, taking home 10 awards, including Top Artist, Top Female Artist, and Top Billboard 200 Artist, among others. With such an incredible sweep, Swift’s night solidified her status as one of the music industry’s most powerful and consistent forces.
As the Billboard Music Awards celebrated the best in the industry, Drake’s multiple victories reinforced his enduring influence and innovation in the music world.
