Gallant Redefines R&B with Groundbreaking Album ‘Zinc’

Gallant Embraces Evolution with ‘Zinc.’ — A Spiritual Sequel to His Debut Album

Gallant’s new album Zinc. marks a powerful chapter in his musical journey, arriving as the much-anticipated follow-up to his 2016 debut, Ology. During a VIBE V Sessions performance in Los Angeles, Gallant shared his deep connection to the album, explaining that Zinc. serves as a “spiritual successor” to Ology, capturing a similar emotional rawness and genre-defying creativity.

Reflecting on the creative process, Gallant noted that while Ology was birthed during a difficult period in his life, Zinc. continues that emotional journey but with a more evolved outlook. He described the album as both a “rebirth” and a “gravesite and a birthplace,” blending introspective themes with a boundary-pushing sound that doesn’t fit neatly into any specific genre. The album’s tracks, including fan favorites like “Fly On The Wall” and “Atoms,” offer a glimpse into Gallant’s growth as an artist, both musically and personally.

Gallant’s passion for Zinc. is clear, particularly when discussing “Atoms.” He explained that the track holds a special place in his heart and that the feeling it evokes during live performances is something he plans to carry with him for the rest of his career. “It sends me into a different state of mind,” Gallant said, emphasizing the deep connection he has to the song.

Looking ahead, Gallant is gearing up for an exciting tour, joining forces with Infinity Song and Alicia Creti, two artists who inspire him both musically and personally. As he shares the stage with these talented musicians, Gallant feels that he’s surrounded by like-minded artists who continue to fuel his creative fire.

In the interview, Gallant also discussed how he is reshaping the R&B genre, blending traditional elements with innovative sounds. His musical aspirations don’t stop there, as he’s eager to collaborate with icons like Maxwell and Usher, fulfilling his “bucket list” of working with his “GOATs.” With Zinc., Gallant aims to leave fans with an album that feels special—one they can return to again and again.
